Introduction
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of detailing this lovely ND MX-5 which was lovingly named ‘Angus’. I had already previously polished and waxed Angus but this time he was in for a 2 step machine compound and polish and then being topped off with a 2 year ceramic coating to seal in the crisp, deep red finish for up to 2 years.
What The Car Received:
- Thorough safe clean on all vehicle panels.
- Wheel barrels, faces, tyres and arches cleaned
- Dried using a safe exterior towel.
- Exhaust tips cleaned and polished.
- Paint will also be clayed to maximise the effect of the polish.
- 2 stage compound and polish to remove up to 85-95% of paint defects.
- High grade 2 year ceramic coating applied. (24 hour cure time)
- Tyres Dressed.
- Faded black trim restored.
- 1 year rain repellent applied to windows.
- Full interior deep clean, vacuum, plastics, vinyl and leathers cleaned and protected, the protection for the leathers lasts around 2-3 months.
- Seats, carpets and mats extracted and shampooed.
- Steering wheel cleaned and protected.
A Basic Overview
This 2015 (I believe) Mazda MX-5 came in for a Wilson Detail which is basically my top end detail. The car wasn’t too swirled and I will try my best to keep this short and sweet as I have made a whole video on this detail which you can find linked here. The car had some swirls but they weren’t awful. Japanese paint is relatively easy to work with so they were quite easy to correct and remove, as well as lay the coating down on top due to the paint being levelled. The coating went on easily and was able to buffed with ease due to the surface prep that was used. All this made for an amazing result which is especially highlighted in the video above.
The interior received the same treatment as far as details are concerned, with leathers, plastics and fabrics all being cleaned and a protection of some form or another applied on top to ensure they are kept clean for a good amount of time.
Summary
In summary this MX-5 was a breeze to detail and I will hopefully see it again sometime soon, in the meantime enjoy the video and I will see you all soon!
