Introduction

This Mercedes C200 came in to me as the dealer had failed to do a good job at all of presenting the car to the current owner, there was silicone spray over almost every interior panel, scratches and swirl marks on the exterior which resulting in quite a dull finish, there was also a peculiar compound of scratches on the roof which I luckily managed to wet-sand, compound and polish out.

What The Car Received

  • Thorough safe clean on all vehicle panels.
  • Wheel barrels, faces, tyres and arches cleaned
  • Dried using a safe exterior towel.
  • Exhaust tips cleaned and polished.
  • Paint will also be clayed to maximise the effect of the polish.
  • 2 stage compound and polish to remove up to 85-95% of paint defects.
  • High grade 2 year ceramic coating applied. (24 hour cure time)
  • Tyres Dressed.
  • Faded black trim restored.
  • 1 year rain repellent applied to windows.
  • Full interior deep clean, vacuum, plastics, vinyl and leathers cleaned and protected, the protection for the leathers lasts around 2-3 months.
  • Seats, carpets and mats extracted and shampooed.
  • Steering wheel cleaned and protected.

A Basic Overview

Now, as a detailer I have come across plenty of different paintworks, from hard, to soft, to sticky to single stage paints. Detailing a Mercedes presents itself in quite a difficult manner, the paints are quite hard on Mercedes and this one was no different, a heavy compound was used and a refining polish was used at the end, both on their respective pads. The paint came up super well and even if it goes un-noticed the swirls are no more, as well as some of the more peculiar scratches that were removed.

The interior was more or less the same story, there was silicone spray on every surface which included the leathers! This was easy enough to clean and replace with a more matte protectant to rejuvenate the plastics. The leathers were cleaned and protected as well which gave them a more supple and factory finish as will be demonstrated in the photos below.

Overall the car was pretty clean as will be shown below and it really just needed that final touch to bring it up to scratch which the owner was over the moon with in the end!

The main focus of this photo is to show the before and after of the steering wheel as it was shiny before but now

Summary

In conclusion this Mercedes came in looking good but needed a lot of improvement inside and out, it received this treatment which left it looking bang on and ready for the owner to enjoy it even more, knowing that car is corrected and protected.
