Introduction
The other week at Wilson Detailing I had this rather dirty Volkswagen Golf R Variant. Due to various reasons the owner was unable to clean this car, as, usually, the owner would look after his own cars but in this situation this wasn’t feasible, so the car was brought to me for my Full Detail package which includes the following:
What The Car Received
- Thorough safe clean on all vehicle panels.
- Wheel barrels, faces, tyres and arches cleaned
- Dried using a safe exterior towel.
- Exhaust tips cleaned and polished.
- 1 stage polish to lessen swirls and light scratches, also enhances paint gloss, this will achieve around 65-85% correction rate.
- High grade 12 month wax applied.
- Wax applied to wheels.
- Tyres Dressed.
- Faded black trim restored.
- Rain repellent applied to windows.
- Full interior deep clean.
- Seats, carpets and mats extracted and shampooed.
- Steering wheel cleaned.
Yes, That is straight from my services page but it explains it well enough!
A Basic Overview
The car was quite a challenge but luckily Volkswagen use quality materials inside so it was relatively easy to vacuum up the rubbish and dirt and return it back to looking as close to perfect as possible.
The paint was in okay condition, there were some swirls but these were easily corrected in the single stage machine polish, the car was fully decontaminated and then machine polished, panel wiped and the 12 month wax was applied which, if maintained correctly should last upwards of a year on top of the car to keep it looking great and performing well!
The inside was the usual with pets, dog hair, sand and just general dirt and mud, this was easily shifted and wasn’t too much hassle, however the dog slobber was quite difficult to remove from the windows and Perspex boot guard
one thing I am unable to portray through text is how the interior smelled, I’m really not too sure how to explain it but, the owner has two Huskies which I believe may have been the culprits of the smell, so I used a deodorizer to eliminate the smell…it worked! and the car smelled fresh again as well as having a touch of Mirrored By Halton Air freshener to sort of, renew the smell of the car – Forest Fresh was used in this case. –
Below will be some images of how the car looked before and how it looked after it got detailed and returned!…enjoy!

Summary
In conclusion this car was quite a challenge however it was easily sorted out by myself. The car itself was lovely and I have had the opportunity to work on a few of them now but on a business side, now that I am a bit more open in October I have been able to book some past customers in which will hopefully be featured on these blogs soon. I am also thankful to everyone who has chosen Wilson Detailing and trusted me to work on your cars to meet whatever you need, seriously a massive thank you as I enjoy car detailing and I am so glad to have been able to make it into my full time work!
